Take a Note at the Museum
Come to the Museum on Earth Day to learn about and explore your natural world. Spend a few minutes at our Notes from Nature table to help our scientists identify whether or not plant specimens have flowers. This simple activity provides important clues about climate change.

Our collections contain over 40 million specimens that were collected over the last 100 years (or more!). Before computers existed, many specimens were labeled with handwritten tags and then filed into the collection.
We need the help of humans to read these labels and type what they read. It’s very easy to do, and helping us digitize our collections will help research work globally.
