More than 120 billion beauty packages are created annually and less than 9% are recycled. And beauty brands produce about 77 billion units of plastic packaging per year, and over 70% of that ends up in landfills. Creating a zero-waste routine allows for reducing waste and chemicals that are harmful to the environment.
How To Create a Beauty Routine:
- Use fewer products in your routine.
- Swap out single use products.
- Ex: rather than using makeup wipes use reusable makeup remover pads.
- Opt for using plastic–free packaging.
- Glass, aluminum or steel can be used and if you can find them go to wholesale shops.
- If you can’t find the products you need in person, look for retailers that use recyclable containers and do not have excess packaging, like bubble wrap.
Tips on creating a beauty routine:
- You don’t have to change everything all at once!
- Choose essential skincare products that are needed for your routine.
- Find multipurpose products.
- EX: lip stain could be used as eyeshadow, blush, and lipstick
