POSea 2022 Conference
This conference will provide networking opportunities and professional development opportunities for participants while showcasing the work of BIPOC marine scientists from around the world.
Howard T. Odum Florida Springs Institute- Science Intern
The Florida Springs Institute (FSI) is looking for two dedicated and responsible individuals to fill the position of “Science Intern” from the week of August 22nd through December 3rd, 2022.
Museum Exhibit Live Lab Fossil Preparation
Students will gain a deeper understanding of the geological past, learn preparation and conservation techniques for fragile and scientifically valuable specimens, better understand the earth’s history through fossils, enhance scientific communication skills with a diverse array of public museum visitors, and have room to create their own projects if desired.
Conference Support Assistant
Students will get to network with an interdisciplinary group of conference attendees (government, practitioners, academic), as well as hear about and learn information about restoration aquaculture of marine species including oysters, clams, seagrasses, and sponges.
8/03: UF IFAS NCBS Natural Resources Career Panel
Participants will be able to ask questions of professionals working in extension, research, federal, and non-profit settings.
8/20: Let’s make some buzz on National Honey Bee Day!
Students will have the ability to learn about the value of honey bees for pollination and sustainable agriculture. They can also participate by posting their honey bee-related social media content.
Florida Horseshoe Crab Watch Volunteer Program
Volunteers will learn about horseshoe crab biology and population management using surveys and hands-on tagging methods.
8/15-18: GIS Introductory Training — Using Applications for Natural Resource Management
You will learn the most commonly used GIS skills in the industry today.
8/11: Museum Nights Block pARTy
Students will have the opportunity to learn about biodiversity from a scientist and explore museum exhibits, and other fun and educational activities.
