Position description

The Florida Museum of Natural History is seeking a Federal Work Study (FWS) student to assist the Curator and Collection Manager with archival document digitization, organization, and curation.

The successful candidate will assist with tasks associated with curation of documents associated with our archaeological collections.  The Environmental Archaeology Program collections include data corresponding to modern comparative and archaeological specimens of zoological, botanical, and pedological materials.

Students will gain valuable experience in museum document archival standards and practices. Prior experience is not required but experience in anthropology, archaeology, library science or related fields is preferred. All necessary training and supervision will be provided. Preference will be given to applicants who are FWS qualified.

This position is part time at 15-20 hours per week.

Eligibility

  • The position is only available to University of Florida students.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat are mandatory.
  • Archival assistants should have strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, experience working within teams, and a commitment to the success of this program.
