Position description

Work with LAKEWATCH staff at the School of Forest, Fisheries, and Geomatics Sciences (SFFGS) to help facilitate “hands-on” citizen participation through monthly monitoring activities. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing sample bottle packs, filter packs, and data sheets for collection centers.
  • Preparing field sampling kits for citizen volunteers, which includes making Secchi disks.
  • Repairing and maintaining sampling equipment.
  • Cleaning field vehicles.
  • Driving to multiple sample collection centers located across Florida and transporting samples back to the LAKEWATCH laboratory for processing.
  • Purchasing laboratory and field supplies as requested by supervisor.
  • Occasional field sampling, data entry, and other duties as needed.

Eligibility

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License.
  • Available to work 20 hours per week
  • No experience required
  • Motivated and confident self-starter to work independently and alongside LAKEWATCH staff is preferred.
