McCarty Woods Restoration Team

Description

Join the McCarty Woods team to maintain the McCarty Woods area, a 2.9-acre expanse of hardwood forest, home to numerous plant and animal species on the UF Campus. You will work on getting newly planted native species established and remove invasives. There is also pinestraw to put down—and some branches to remove from Helene and Milton damage.

There will be a special event with additional activities after our restoration work from 10 – 11 AM with additional activities that we hope will bring more public attention to the McCarty Woods effort :

Take a guided nature walk

• Make a backyard biodiversity collage

• Learn to use a plant press

• Identify plants and birds with simple phone apps

Please dress appropriately for the heat and bring water and gloves if you have them. All ages and skill levels welcome.
