Opportunity Description

We are excited to announce that the iDigTRIO Biology Career Conference and Fair will be taking place on February 19th-24, 2024. The iDigTRIO conference is aimed at collegiate and pre-collegiate students associated with TRIO programs around the United States. The mission of the iDigTRIO Conference is to provide opportunities to explore careers and graduate programs in the biological sciences to underserved students (first-generation, limited-income, students with disabilities, etc.)

  • The iDigTRIO 2024 Conference will be held fully online, including a virtual research symposium. Abstracts can be submitted for individual or group presentations (maximum of four students) for projects conducted with a research mentor’s guidance (no independent projects).
  • Students participating in the symposium will prepare an 8-minute video slideshow providing an overview of their research. Presenters can opt to appear in the video or not.
  • On Day 1 of the conference, all videos submitted for the symposium will be released on the iDigTRIO YouTube Channel (public) and promoted to conference participants and other contacts to maximize visibility. Conference attendees will be encouraged to engage with presenters by submitting questions or feedback using the comments feature. Comments are auto-filtered by YouTube and will also be monitored by the committee.
  • On Day 2 of the conference, there will be a 1-hour session featuring four students who will give a live research presentation (via Zoom). Students will have 8 minutes to present, with additional time for questions from the audience. The iDigTRIO committee will select the students to present live who represent diverse areas of research. In the abstract submission form, students will indicate whether they wish to be considered for a live presentation (optional). The selected students will be notified in advance and allowed to confirm their participation before the conference.
