The UF Thompson Earth Systems Institute, iDigFossils, and the Human Evolution Teaching Materials Project are sponsoring a three-day teacher workshop focusing on how to incorporate human evolution into existing K-12 science curricula. The workshop will take place July 14-18, 2019 at the Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainesville. July 14 and 18 will be travel days.
The goals for the workshop are to:

- Address concerns about teaching evolution/human evolution in K–12 schools
- Address the impact of social media and its ability to connect K–12 educators and palentologists/paleoanthropologists
- Develop open-source lesson plans focused on incorporating human evolution into K–12 education in a modern and accessible way.
- Gain a better understanding of what resources teachers need and how to best develop them as part of an ongoing collaboration
- Gain a better understanding of how 3D printing works and how to incorporate 3D prints in the classroom
The deadline to apply for the workshop is May 25, 2019. Participants will be selected based on information provided in the application. All travel, lodging, and meals will be provided.
