Position description

The Bob Graham Center for Public Service and UF Government and Community Relations are pleased to sponsor public service internships for the University of Florida students with U.S. Congressional offices in Washington, D.C., and with the UFGCR Washington offices during the Spring 2024 semester.

Selected interns must enroll in IDS4940 or an equivalent course in their own department. The amount of credit hours and registration will be discussed with the Bob Graham Center for Public Service. Students can register for 0 credits of IDS 4940 to avoid the tuition cost of 3 semester hours.

Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, self-starters, and have a passion for civic engagement and the intersection of policy and politics.

Responsibilities:

  • attending hearings
  • drafting reports and legislative updates
  • supporting special projects, events, and essential front-line constituent relations

Qualifications

  • currently enrolled University of Florida undergraduate student in good standing
  • any academic major
  • minimum 3.0 GPA
  • demonstrated interest in public service, public policy, law, or government affairs
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • strong interpersonal skills
