Description

Join us at Prince William Sound College in Valdez and take advantage of our internship program in partnership with the National Park Service (NPS). The internship is designed to expose students to careers in natural resources and environmental education and interpretation. The intern will work at Wrangell-St. Elias National Park and Preserve- Copper Center, Alaska. One position will be filled.

Duties
  • Provides front line customer service by staffing a visitor center desk to distribute information and orientation to visitors for trip planning
  • Conducts sales of cooperating association publications and items
  • Research, develop, and present interpretive programs on climate change
  • Assists with education programs, social media, and/or special events
  • Earn course credit through Prince William Sound College

Eligibility

  •  Highly qualified applicants should have good public speaking, writing, and research skills and a friendly and cheerful personality to work well with the public.
  • You must have the ability to receive instructions and work independently.
  • You must be willing to live in a remote area with minimal amenities and be able to live in rustic housing with a roommate.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule with varying hours.

Duration

Mid-May to mid-August 2025 for up to a 16-week internship, depending on the student’s schedule and availability
