Florida Museum of Natural History

Description

Are you interested in community science education? Have you ever wanted to get involved in Gainesville outreach initiatives but don’t have the time for frequent activities? You can pursue both with Museum in the Parks!

Develop your science communication skills, engage school-aged audiences with STEM education, show off your collections, and have the opportunity to share your passion for your area of study by volunteering with Museum in the Parks! The events are only an hour and a half time commitment, and there is no recurring commitment.

The goal of Museum in the Parks is to encourage students to explore nature, teach them about museum collections, and show students what a scientist can look like and what careers are available to them in the future. MitP empowers students to explore nature and science and feel confident in local parks.

All areas of natural science study are welcome! For our immediate needs, we are particularly interested in anyone who has availability in March, April, and May!

Volunteer Requirements: To be considered as a science expert, you must be a junior or above with research experience. But any student who is interested in science communication is welcome to reach out.
