Part-time, temporary position with an expected salary of $17/hr

Position description

This position will assist the water resources program, with a focus on community outreach. The following tasks are not exhaustive but represent how a candidate can expect to spend most of their time in the internship:

  • Plan and deliver our interactive educational programs in local classrooms, summer camps, and other events in our community.
  • Attend community events, sometimes on evenings or weekends.
  • Assist with water quality monitoring, which may include groundwater and creek sampling.
  • Conduct educational site visits to local businesses and apartment complexes.
  • Keep an updated inventory of outreach supplies.
  • Keep organized data on outreach impact for reporting.
  • Design creative outreach and social marketing materials through software like Canva.

The ideal candidate will be available some weekends and some full-day (8 am-5 pm) shifts with an average of 10-20 hours per week (depending on workload and candidate availability). The end date will depend on the candidate and could extend for years if there is a good fit. Desired skills include public speaking, written and oral communication, excellent organization, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, experience in Excel and Microsoft Word, and the desire to perform some work in the field. Experience working with Canva is desirable.

Eligibility

  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited two or four-year college or university or at a technical school taking college-level courses.
  • Successful completion of criminal history background investigation is required prior to employment.
  • A valid Florida driver’s license is required
