No Such Place As AWAY! Ever wonder what happens to your garbage when you throw it away? This family-friendly tour provides an overview of Pinellas County’s integrated solid waste management system, including the Waste-to-Energy facility and landfill, recycling programs, and the Household Electronics and Chemical Collection Center (HEC₃). Pinellas County burns enough trash each day to power almost 45,000 homes; learn how we recover energy and metal by burning garbage. Learn how to reduce the amount of waste that you generate and which items to recycle and why.
