This virtual mini-series examines our interconnectedness through water and specifically Florida’s water. Inspired by the Smithsonian Institution Water/Ways traveling exhibit, Palm Beach County School District has partnered with the Scientist in Every Florida School to offer an engaging series of presentations in months of January and February that explore water through different lenses and careers. These events are geared toward grades 3-12 but open to all ages.
For those nearby, you can visit the Water/Ways exhibit at the Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center in Belle Glade, Florida from January 10-February 26, 2022.
The University of Florida’s IFAS Everglades Research and Education Center is nestled in the heart of Belle Glade and its sugar industry, an important global crop with a heated history. There’s a lot more agriculture than just sugar in Belle Glade that we depend on. But how do Florida’s crops affect water resources? Hear from Dr. Samira Daroub, a soil and water scientist, who works with farmers to create best management practices for agriculture to preserve Florida’s water as well as to provide for its people.
