Montbrook Fossil Dig

The Florida Museum of Natural History is seeking volunteers to help dig at the Montbrook dig site in Levy County for the month of November. The Montbrook Site is very productive and almost all volunteers will find some fossil specimens on their first day. The most commonly found fossils are bones from the shell of freshwater turtles and vertebrae, spines, scales, and skull bones of fish, including gar, catfish, snook, and drum.

ST. PETE: The Wild World of Bats

Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center is hosting The Wild World of Bats on November 9 in St. Petersburg. Join Francine Prager of Tampa Bay Bats to learn about the basic biology of these amazing flying mammals. The program begins with a presentation on the diversity and conservation of bats, and will address some of the most common myths about these creatures. After the presentation, visitors will have the opportunity to view some of Ms. Prager's live bats! Registration is free.

GAINESVILLE: Native Wildlife of Devils Millhopper

Join Sunrise Wildlife Rehabilitation volunteers and the Native Wildlife Ambassadors at 11:00 AM. These nonreleasable native owls and mammals represent wildlife that inhabits The Devils Millhopper Geological State Park. " Russell Stover" a Virginia opossum and newest team member will be making his debut appearance at this program.
