Montbrook Fossil Dig
The Florida Museum of Natural History is seeking volunteers to help dig at the Montbrook dig site in Levy County for the month of November. The Montbrook Site is very productive and almost all volunteers will find some fossil specimens on their first day. The most commonly found fossils are bones from the shell of freshwater turtles and vertebrae, spines, scales, and skull bones of fish, including gar, catfish, snook, and drum.
CORAL GABLES: GIS Day at University of Miami
Join the University of Miami to learn about the many real-world applications of geographic information systems (GIS). Although this international event is scheduled for November 13, we are holding our local event on Thursday, November 14th. We will present a series of events including a networking lunch, presentations, panel discussion, games, map contest, and reception. GIS Day is free and open to the public.
