Montbrook Fossil Dig

The Florida Museum of Natural History is seeking volunteers to help dig at the Montbrook dig site in Levy County for the month of November. The Montbrook Site is very productive and almost all volunteers will find some fossil specimens on their first day. The most commonly found fossils are bones from the shell of freshwater turtles and vertebrae, spines, scales, and skull bones of fish, including gar, catfish, snook, and drum.

ORLANDO: Transplanter Gardener

Discover the enjoyment of growing plants in Central Florida from Leu Garden’s Director Robert Bowden. He’ll talk about garden plants, soil, sun and water and how they differ from other parts of the country. Cost is $16, Leu Member $10.

Elementary students will explore basic rocketry, the solar system and vacuums. Middle school students will have the opportunity to learn about rocket recovery and solar energy and then fly a legend of aviation: the SR-71 Blackbird.
