As part of the Museum in the Parks program we took students and adults on a tour of Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park with Dr. Verity Mathis, Florida Museum Mammals Collection Manager and Aditi Jayarajan, Ph.D. student in the Florida Museum Mammals Collection. This state park has more than 400 vertebrate species, including mammals like horses, otters, deer, bobcats and more.
Explore the park and Florida’s many species of mammals, learn about UF’s mammal collection and let this video be a starting point for your own adventure! The Museum in the Parks program connects natural history education with explorations of our natural world. We host specific events and also offer videos, materials and kits to support self-guided tours of some of our state’s parks.
