It was wonderful to see so many friends and bat-fans attending our full house Bats & Brew event last night, May 24! We welcomed our newest exhibit Masters of the Night: The True Story of Bats by talking with bat experts, meeting bats in person, and learning all about the cool and amazing mammals!
Not only do bats eat hundreds of pounds of mosquitoes every night (thank you!), they are vital pollinators for important food crops–including the agave plant, which is used to make tequila! So of course we had tequila sampling last night, for those brave enough to try.
And to make the whole bat experience more real, we visited the UF Bat Barns and Bat House to watch the bats leave their roost for the evening.
Many thanks to our friends at Lubee Bat Conservancy!
