Our exhibits building is CLOSED. Anticipated re-opening in 2026. Learn More

Wow! What a day! In just 5 hours, we were able to welcome 1,300 visitors at this year’s Girls Do Science event! The day was filled with engaging hands-on activities, from guessing games and drawing to exploring scientific tools and dressing up as scientists. This incredible achievement was made possible by dedicated scientists, volunteers, and our museum staff.

In 2015, the United Nations selected Feb. 11 as ‘International Women and Girls in Science Day‘ in order to encourage more female participation in science. Our annual celebration of ‘International Women and Girls in Science Day’ was held on February 8, 2025.

A Resounding Success

We are especially grateful for all of the Florida Museum, University of Florida and county researchers who attended this year’s event. Their commitment to communicating science and engaging with all of our visitors made this event a resounding success. Events like this inspire countless young minds and foster a love for science in our community.

Being able to showcase such a wide variety of scientific fields and research topics is key to showing the scientists of tomorrow that their interests are worth pursuing into meaningful careers.
