We had such a blast at our second Pop-Up Museum at the Marston Science Library here on campus at the University of Florida. The theme for the afternoon was “The Swamp for the Springs” and our focus was on our local freshwater springs!

Our partners were our new friends here at the library and the outreach team from the UF Thompson Earth Systems Institute (TESI) here at the Museum. Together we shared the story of one of our state’s most valuable resources – water!

Students and UF staff walking by the library were enticed to check out some cool specimens from our ichthyology collection, play springs themed trivia and games for swag, make a mini springs eco jar, experience a VR cave dive and more!

The TESI team has been rolling out their new Swamp for the Springs campaign, an effort to bring awareness to these unique ecosystems and inspire people to become stewards for the springs. The TESI Environmental Leaders Fellows were a lot of fun to work with at this event and we look forward to co-hosting future events. Read more about this from their perspective and find out how to get involved.

We’re excited for our next Pop-up Museum at the Marston Science Library with more science and more fun soon! We’re also going to be at many more locations in our community so check our calendar for Florida Museum on the Go!

Today’s team: So much fun!
