This exhibit was on display September 23, 2017, through January 7, 2018

From rare, ancient treasures to cutting-edge technologies, the exhibit showcased the Museum’s 17 collections and research initiatives that address topics from extinction to biodiversity.

Objects from the Museum’s 40 million specimens told the stories of everything from coral reefs to human health to prehistoric life. This exhibit also showed how science has changed over time, and how the research here at Florida Museum continues to address future critical world issues, including biodiversity, climate change, invasive species and more.

Visitors were able to interact with our scientists in the live lab while they worked. The lab featured a different collection each week, allowing us to show how science and research are conducted in the less-visible areas of the Museum.

We crafted this exhibit to tell the story of the institution’s rich history and how the Museum has affected the lives of students, volunteers, employees and donors.

The accompanying online exhibit is still available to explore! Read about our treasured collection objects and listen to our scientists speak on why each are important to the Florida Museum:
