Wondrous Creatures: Where Science and Art Intersect

This exhibit was on display May 25, 2018, through September 16, 2018

Ariel Bowman offered us a whimsical look at some of nature’s oddest prehistoric creatures. Five sculptures of animals with 18th-century furniture acted as a bridge between art and science. This was a time period when humans’ relationship with nature was beginning to expand through scientific discovery. Accompanying pictures illustrated the sculpting process and showed how a ball of clay is transformed into intricate pieces of art.

Sculptures by Ariel Bowman. Bowman created the sculptures as part of her thesis exhibition to complete her master’s of fine arts from the University of Florida College of the Arts.
