Did You Know?
- Eelgrass beds are the foundations of healthy spring ecosystems in the same way that trees are the foundations of healthy forests.
- The Mammoth Spring vent at Silver Springs State Park was once so pristine that it was used to film early underwater films and TV shows starting in the 1930s.
- A few decades ago, Troy Spring discharged crystal-clear groundwater to the nearby Suwannee River. Today, as one of the state’s most impaired springs, the water has become pea green.
