My brain recently kicked out a quote from Dodgeball – the five Ds are dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge – which forced me to find and re-watch the movie. It felt like foreshadowing because a few days later the Museum was featured in a video that was somewhat unusual. It was a video of someone flushing several of the toilets in our public restroom.
Rest assured, after a quick look, we determined there was nothing sketchy about this video. It was posted on an account called Florida Toilets and Computers. Which pretty much describes the content. It’s all videos of toilets, urinals and other restroom fixtures. These are named by location, make and model of the device, and given ratings. People even comment about things like water pressure and rarity of the make/model. There’s a whole community with adjacent accounts offering similar content.
What does this have to do with Dodgeball? The movie (for those unfamiliar) is about people needing to raise money fast. They fell into dodgeball because Gordon saw something about it in the Obscure Sports Quarterly magazine, which takes us into the ESPN8: The Ocho universe of fringe sports with avid fans.

From the early chat groups and board, to today’s niche apps and social platforms, people have been using the internet to find their family and share their passions.
From Air Guitar World Championships to extreme crochet to professional stone skipping, we’re happy to meet people where they’re at and (even tangentially) contribute to things that excite them.
