The University of Florida Herbarium applies donations to fund student, staff, and faculty research in plant systematics, and to help grow and diversify the herbarium. Past and current donations have helped to fund and train students on mounting historic plant specimens as well as trips to collect specimens in the field.
Any contributions to the Herbarium are welcome. Consisting of more than a half million specimens, the University of Florida Herbarium (FLAS) is within the top 100 herbarium collections in the world. Established in the 1891, it is the oldest and most diverse collection of its kind in Florida containing collections from around the world, especially the southeastern United States and the Caribbean region. The collection is used by educators, the public, and researchers throughout the world.
