Dr. Ronald Flaspohler was a professor at Western Michigan University for over two decades.  He received his PhD. in Zoology from the University of Michigan and his Masters in Geology from the University of Missouri-Columbia.  His love of butterfly collecting began as a child in northern Missouri and continued when he retired in the late 1980s when he took many trips to Latin America to collect, often with his wife and adult children.  He continued to build his collection through correspondence with other colleagues and collectors around the world.

Below, one can see a sample from the collection, which has fine holdings in the butterfly genera Heliconius, Euides and Delias.
