Plaster and burlap jackets are usually very heavy. After flipping one of these jackets, we remove as much matrix (clay, sand, non-fossils, etc.) from the jacket as possible to reduce the weight.

Sometimes, as displayed in the image below, we find another important specimen within the jacket! The larger jacket contains a partial alligator snapping turtle shell and skull, while the little plaster bandage jacket contains a tiny musk turtle jaw (this is indeed the smallest jacket we have from Montbrook).
