To celebrated Doug Soltis’ recent election to the National Academy of Sciences, we held a gathering here in Dickinson Hall for our scientists and staff. We also took a moment to read the State Resolution issued by the Florida House of Representatives and the City and County Proclamations we received in recognition of 100 years (and counting) of inspiring citizens all over the State of Florida to care about life on Earth.
It was wonderful to welcome Elizabeth Wing to this reception, and to snap a photo of three of our National Academy of Sciences members together. Doug’s photo will hang in the lobby here at Dickinson Hall with the photos of our other four NAS members.
There are currently 18 active NAS members here at the University of Florida, and we’re quite proud that three of them are right here at the Florida Museum of Natural History!
