Shell is elongate, with a narrow aperture and short siphonal canal. Sculpture consists of closely-spaced axial ribs and spiral cords, producing cancellate (mesh) pattern.
Size: 20-30 mm.
Ecology: inhabits shallow-offshore marine (10-100 m) waters, on sediment surface; predatory carnivore; buccinids are known to have strong chemosensory abilities and can smell prey meters away.
Geological range: Early Miocene-Recent (21-0 million years ago).
Geographic distribution: Caribbean – Panama, Florida, and Venezuela; Pacific – Panama, Costa Rica, Ecuador.
