Shell has a trigonal profile and round outline. Sculpture of 4 or 5 spiral cords (sometimes beaded). Umbilicus is round, deep, and lined with heavy beading.
Size: 30-40 mm.
Ecology: inhabits shallow-offshore marine (10-100 m waters), crawling on sediment surface; browsing carnivore; planktonic larvae are dispersed great distances (possibly between oceans).
Geological range: Early Miocene-Recent (23-0 million years ago).
Geographic distribution: Caribbean – Panama, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Florida, Grenada, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad, and Venezuela; Pacific – Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru.
