Shell is robust, with an elongate spire, and a thick callus. Shell surface is smooth.
Size: 30-45 mm.
Ecology: inhabits shallow marine (5-50 m) waters, plowing through sand near sediment surface or crawling along sediment surface; predatory; snail will envelop its prey and then bore a hole through the shell using its radula and an acid secretion.
Geological range: Middle Miocene-Late Pliocene (16-3 million years ago).
Geographic distribution: Caribbean – Panama, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Trinidad, and Venezuela; Pacific – Ecuador and Peru.
