CreativeB_wordmark_sub_lrThe museum is also hosting an opening reception at 6 p.m. July 8 where attendees can meet and greet Creative B featured artist Nobuho Nagasawa prior to the discussion and viewing of “Mothra” (1961) at 7 p.m.

“Creative B is a unique opportunity to speak to experts in the fields of special effects, science and science fiction,” said Tiffany Ireland, Florida Museum educator. “It’s the main event of the summer.”

The museum also will show “Little Shop of Horrors” (1960) on July 15, “The Thing from Another World” (1951) on July 22 and “Matango” (1963) on July 29. Some movie content may not be appropriate for all audiences.

The panel discussion will be led by Tim Lawrence, a special effects artist and concept sculptor for “Ghostbusters,” “Jurassic Park,” “Shrek” and “Thriller,” Florida Museum exhibit designer and cult movie aficionado Ian Breheny, and UF associate professor of English and Film and Media Studies Terry Harpold.

Established in 2010, the UF Creative B summer program consolidates resources and talents of creative programs across campus. Participants enjoy special programming, including a variety of cultural performances and other activities. Regular exhibit prices apply. UF students receive free admission to the “Wicked Plants” and “Butterfly Rainforest” exhibits with a valid Gator 1 card.
