GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Museum of Natural History is now closed to the public starting today, March 16, and will remain closed until further notice due to health concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. All museum events in March have been rescheduled or canceled.

We apologize for the inconvenience, but based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this step is needed to help safeguard the health and well-being of our employees and the community.

The museum will continue to monitor the situation and follow the recommendations of the University of Florida Board of Trustees, Florida Department of Health and CDC. Event changes:

  • The Tot Trots program on March 16 has been canceled.
  • The Shake Your Honey Maker 5K on March 21 has gone virtual. Registrants will receive a shirt and medal, and can race from anywhere. For more information visit www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/event/5k.
  • The SciArt Meetup: Women Scientific Illustrators event on March 24 has been rescheduled to April 21.
  • The Historic Bike Tour on March 29 has been rescheduled to April 18 as part of the Earth Day Celebration.
  • The SciArt Meetup: Bookmaking and Papermaking event on April 21 will be rescheduled for a later date TBD.
