Today we say farewell to Annisa Karim as she leaves our team to continue to expand her career as a stalwart for the conservation of Florida’s natural resources. If you have spent time at RRC in the last few years, you’ve likely encountered her wearing one of her many RRC t-shirts and hats as operations manager where she juggled everything from natural and cultural heritage resource management and storm recovery to volunteer coordination, public education, and community engagement.
Annisa joined our team in 2021 and has since been a rock in our recovery from several hurricanes and staff change-overs, as well as a friend and support to the Pine Island community. Her day-to-day steady involvement in running the center and the wide variety of skills needed to head our team exemplified the Florida Museum’s mission to inspire people to care about life on Earth.
She will be returning to her roots in wildlife ecology and has accepted a position in Gainesville as with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Division of Habitat and Species Conservation.
“This allows me to get back to my passion of working within the field of wildlife ecology and Conservation,” she said. “I am really looking forward to moving to Gainesville!”
While she leaves us to expand her professional path, we are confident she will remain a steadfast supporter of the Randell Research Center! Perhaps as a visitor, enjoying the trail and the natural and archaeological spaces she helped steward for several years with us, or as a special guest speaker at RRC events.
