Work Location: Dickinson Hall, Main Campus (Gainesville) or remote. Job Description: The Florida Museum of Natural History is seeking qualified applicants for the part-time OPS position of assistant science writer. The successful candidate will write press releases, features and social media content about Florida Museum research and researchers for the science news site: https://www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/science/ The museum’s news stories are designed to translate scientific findings in clear, compelling ways for public audiences and the media. Topics include species discoveries, evolution, climate change, invasive species, conservation, data science and cultural heritage. Minimum requirements: • Two years of experience in communications, science writing and/or journalism. • Knowledge of AP style. • Ability to translate technical work into accessible news stories.
