The South Florida Archaeology and Ethnography Program at the Florida Museum of Natural History was established in 1983. The collections represent the broad continuum of Indigenous groups in Florida, from precontact times to the present, and tell the ancestral stories of the 13 most southern Florida counties.
The program’s tradition is geared toward the stewardship of the state’s cultural heritage and natural history, with an emphasis on the exploration of human-environmental interactions in an interdisciplinary framework.
