Paste is thin, compact, hard and dark red in color. Surface is covered with slip in swirled, marbleized patterns. Bichrome marbleized examples are rust and yellow, and polychrome marbleized examples are rust, yellow, brown and sometimes green. A lead glaze is applied over the slip decoration. |

Comments: | The marbleized effect is achieved by coating the red body with a thin layer of white slip, or layers of white, brown and green slip. The vessel is then shaken ("joggling") causing the slip to swirl and produce a marbleized appearance. |
